We hear the hotel announcement, “There is a power outage across the city. We are on emergency generators, and only one lift is working. Please have patience.”
3 elevators closed, 1 elevator working, and 10 people already queuing in the lobby, with more joining every minute.
A line starts to form as people protect their arrival order.
And then it happens…
The one working lift opens and the queue of people start to shuffle forward, only to realise that it’s not going up yet, it’s still going down to the car parks. We will have to catch it on the way back up.
The crowd starts to move back into place with the exception of one woman from the back of the queue.
She, and her companions start walking toward the lift saying, “well We’ll go in the lift if no one else will.”
“But you’re going up, too,” says another person.
“Yeah, but we’ll just ride the elevator down, and then back up again.”
Wait. What?
And then all hell breaks loose…
If you were standing in the queue, what would you do? Would you say something? Not say something, let someone else say something? Get management to say something? Play fruit ninja on your phone?
Love to hear your thoughts.
