Experiences are the new black

Experiences are the new black.

We want immersion. We want co-creation. We want interaction.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a big fan of experiences.

Just in the last few years, my family and I have done things like:

  • VR virtual tours of the Titanic

  • VR virtual tours of Machu Picchu

  • Been an audience of Jurors in an immersive court case play

  • Attended a ‘Princess Bride’ night where you interacted with the characters in various staged locations and interactive scenes

  • Attended a Bridgerton Ball (in full period costume so convincing that other attendees were requesting photos with us as if we were part of the cast!)

And most recently, my husband and I had an immersive dining experience. We attended a dining event called the Magic Table at the Intercontinental in Melbourne.

Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but between courses, you experienced a magic show, right at your table.

Each table had an overhead projector, projecting a little movie onto each person's dining space. It was so unique and so much fun.

So why am I telling you this? Because your next conference is competing with this kind of entertainment. People are no longer willing to sit passively and absorb information. They want to immerse themselves in the message, they want to co-create the experience and they want something different.

Food for thought, huh? (See what I did there? )

Of course, if you’re looking for a fresh speaker for your next event, I’d love to help.
