Some 425 women attended across the week, with four out of five events drawing significantly larger crowds than last year, indicating that the Women in Print across Australia are thriving, and keener than ever to build their networks.
The success of this year’s events is a testament not only to their enthusiasm, but to the commitment of Women in Print Patrons Natalie Taylor, Kirsten Taylor, Susan Heaney, Marisa Rossi, Sandy Aspinall, and Lisa Blachut.
Each breakfast kicked off with a fascinating insight from a panel of industry leaders, discussing the challenges they face, how they have furthered their careers, how they balance their work with other priorities, and what keeps them inspired.
Guest keynote, Anneli Blundell – known as the people whisperer – then took over, startling audiences initially by proving just how quickly misperceptions can take hold, and illustrating just how important it is to ensure your communication reinforces your capability, rather than undermining your credibility.
Blundell's presentation gave the gathering a host of knowledge, insight and tips which not only revealed why people do what they do, but provided some take-home tips on how to increase influence, engagement and impact.
Among those was the importance of using an appropriate tone to drive the action you want, keeping communications concise and to the point, and ensuring that you take up your space in the room by using expansive body language. Those who attended will be easy to spot in the coming weeks – they will be the ones furtively practicing their presentations in front of the mirror.
